CloudShell Vulnerability Grants Unintended AWS Access

Cloud Vuln DB · indexed 2026-09-07 17:30 UTC

A vulnerability in AWS CloudShell allowed users to gain unintended command-line access to the underlying AWS infrastructure. During a training session, a delegate unexpectedly received the identity context of an EC2 instance role within an ECS cluster, instead of the intended AWS account. This issue potentially bypassed existing controls aimed at preventing lateral movement and access to higher-privileged management roles.

Data exfil via VPC endpoint denials in CloudTrail

Cloud Vuln DB · indexed 2026-09-07 17:30 UTC

CloudTrail delivered events to the resource owner and API caller even when the API action was denied by the VPC endpoint policy. This could have enabled a stealthy data exfiltration method in cases where an attacker had previously compromised a VPC, by smuggling data through the user agent field in denied requests.

Huntress · indexed 2026-09-07 17:30 UTC

Tracking various indicators associated with different attacks, Huntress analysts have been able to identify specific indicators (threat actor workstation names, passwords associated with new user account creation or current account modification, CloudFlare tunnel tokens) that are associated with Akira ransomware infections. By detecting these indicators much earlier in the attack chain, organizations can inhibit or even obviate file encryption malware deployment.
